Musas fight with oriental-style martial arts and with the Blade and Horn Bow. Musas are specialists in 1-on-1 showdowns, since their fast and precise attack combos.

Introduction

Maids/Butlers are available from the Pearl Store, under the function tab, for 1,200 pearls and can be used to access your storage or marketplace from anywhere, depending on which one you buy. There are 2 types of maids/butlers, and 4 different appearances you can choose from.

A quest was also added on 20th Dec 2017, which rewards a free storage or transaction maid/butler (of your choice). The quest is available from your Black Spirit on any character that is level 52 or higher. It can only be completed once per account and the maid/butler cannot be exchanged once it has been chosen. It is currently unknown if this quest will be removed at a later date.

Storage Maids/Butlers

Storage Maids/Butlers are used to access your warehouse. It’s important to note that the maid/butler will open the storage in the region you are currently in. For example: if you are currently at Sausans, it will open your Altinova storage and if you are at Pirates, it will open your Calpheon storage.

You can deposit and withdraw any items, excluding trade items. You can only transfer a maximum of 100LT weight however and there is a 20 minute cooldown for using the maid/butler.

Transaction Maids/Butlers

Transaction Maids/Butlers are used to access your Central Market Warehouse (for more information on the Central Market, click here to view our guide).

You can move one item stack from your Central Market Warehouse per maid/butler. You can also withdraw and deposit silver. You can browse the Central Market from anywhere and buy items, then use your maid/butler to move the item from your Central Market Warehouse straight into your inventory. You can also move items from your inventory to the Central Market, so that you can place them up for sale immediately without having to go to a Marketplace NPC. Transaction Maids/Butlers have a 20 minute cooldown once they have been used.

How to use Maids/Butlers

Once you have purchased a maid/butler, you will need to register them by right-clicking the maid/butler in your pearl inventory once registered there will be a 20 minute cooldown before it can be used.

To use your maid/butler, click the icon in the top left of your screen then select the storage or Central Market button. In the Maid/Butler list, you can view the current cooldowns of your maids/butlers.

You can also set up Quick Hotkeys to Summon the maid/butlers directly. This can be done by going to your ESC menu and then “Quick Hotkey”.

In Black Desert Online, your family fame is a moderately important aspect of the game to work on improving. The benefits of your family fame are in the form of daily silver payouts (sometimes called the BDO family fame fund) and reduced marketplace taxes. There are three types of fame in BDO, combat fame, life fame, and special fame. The sum of the fame points from these three types forms your total family fame.

Fame Points for Combat, Life, and Special Fame

Combat fame

The combined combat level of all your characters above level 15 is your combat fame score. However, characters at level 56 get double points for each level, and characters at level 60 get 5 points for each level.

This means that it’s important to hit levels 56 and 60 to maximize combat fame for the least amount of work as can be seen in the table below. Combat fame tiers range from 15 points to 6001+.

Life Fame

The combined life skill levels of all your characters whose life skills have reached professional 1 count towards your life fame score. This means that you get life skill fame points for each life skill at or above professional 1 on each of your characters. Life skill levels up to master give half a point and each guru level gives one point. Note that all your skill levels give points, not just the levels above professional 1, they just don’t start counting until professional 1.

For example. Say you have life skills at skilled 10, professional 3, professional 7, artisan 4, master 4. Your life fame is then found like this:

32+36+43+53 = 164

164 / 2 = 82

82 + 1 = 83 life fame.

When your life skill at skilled 10 then reached professional 1 you get another 15 points. So pushing some life skills to professional 1 on your alts is a sound way to level up your life skills. Personally, I do this by letting my alts use the cooking and alchemy side dish for experience and then spend some time in getting processing to professional 1 by processing flax threads or gathering water. There might be a faster way to level life fame, but this is the method I use.

Life fame tiers range from 10 points to 900+.

Special Fame

In many ways, this is the hardest fame category to level up. For special fame, your total gained knowledge/10 plus your contribution points give your special fame score. By pressing the H button, you can see your total accumulated knowledge on the bottom left.

So, for example, if you have 1420 knowledge pieces and 145 contribution points. This gives you:

1420/10 = 142
142+145 = 287 special fame.

The special fame tiers range from 50 points to 1501+.

Silver From the Fame Payout System

Your score for combat experience, life skills, and knowledge/contribution is compared to a tiered list, with each tier awarding you a certain amount of silver each day. This daily allocation of silver is placed in your chest at the end of each day, from where you can claim it.

Below is a table that shows how much silver is paid out for each tier of a particular fame type. As you can see combat fame rewards the most silver, followed by life skills and special fame giving the least.

From this list, you can see that the fastest way to gain your first daily payout of silver through BDO’s family fame fund is by leveling a few characters, preferably two characters to combat level 56, and then level a few more by a few levels until you reach the second combat fame tier.

To reach the third combat fame tier you will either need to get a single character to level 60 and two others to level 56 with a few below level 56. Or you need to get at least 4 to level 56 and then also a few more below that level. After that you will need to push characters to level 60 or buy more character slots.

Leveling life fame is extremely time-consuming and special fame is not really worth focusing on leveling but it will rise naturally as you play the game.

Central Market Tax Reduction From Family Fame

The final benefit of fame in BDO is the tax reduction you get from your total family fame. Once it hits 1000 points you get a 0.5% tax reduction on all your sales. You then get a 1% tax reduction at 4000 points and 1.5% reduction at 7000 points. Your total family fame is found by adding together the fame points from each of the categories.

Now, this might not seem like much, but keep in mind that at 1% tax reduction, you get an extra 1.000.000 silver for every 100 million in sales on the marketplace and near the end game this really starts to kick in.
